Fuchs Mizrachi School

The Martin and Susan Sanders Family Foundation for Classical Music Enrichment has recently sponsored the Fuchs Mizrachi Junior High School to give students the opportunity to experience all aspects of the Cleveland Orchestra, culminating in an educational concert called “Beethoven: The Man and his Music”.

Students will attend four informational sessions prior to the concert where they can learn about the instruments of the orchestra, Severance Hall, concert etiquette, Beethoven in his world, and information about the concert repertoire.

Letter from Mrs. Lynne Yulish, Upper School Mathematics Teacher

Dear Mr. Sanders and Mr. White,

I'm Lynne Yulish and want to give a huge thank you for your support of music appreciation at Fuchs Mizrachi School.  As coordinator, I am delighted to share with you some of the initiatives we are doing at Fuchs Mizrachi School, introduce myself, and clarify procedures.

Last Friday, 23 5-7th graders attended a Cleveland Orchestra Educational concert at Severance Hall called "Beethoven: the Man and his Music".  To prepare, all the children met with me four times at lunch to discuss: Orchestral Instruments, Concert Etiquette, Beethoven in his time, and listen to the concert repertoire.  They loved the concert and it was wonderful to see their enthusiasm! We will be pursuing this type of concert for the lower school in the future. We also have started a lower school choir to perform at Senior Care facilities.  They have already learned a Hinei Ma Tov medley as well as Naomi Shemer's Yerushalayim Shel Zahav.

We have also been in contact with the Cleveland Center for Arts-Inspired Learning to bring in small ensembles and guest facilitators for all divisions.

I currently teach 6th and 7th grade math at Fuchs Mizrachi; however, I have been involved in Public/Jewish Music Education in Cleveland for over 35 years. I taught at local shuls, at the Gross Schechter Day School, conducted HaZamir Cleveland (a chapter of Hazamir: the International Teen Choir) and I currently sing with the Cleveland Orchestra.

We are so grateful to partner with you and continue to bring meaningful, impactful experiences to our children.

Thank you,

Mrs. Lynne Yulish
