Music At The Tower of David Museum
Over three days during Sukkot, the Tower of David Museum came alive with music thanks to the generosity of Martin and Susan Sanders. Three days of afternoon concerts were enriched with morning activities crafted by the Museum education staff that weaved Jerusalem’s musical heritage and Jewish tradition together with classical concerts. The Jerusalem Street Orchestra, a classic chamber orchestra, comprised of talented performers, graduates of Jerusalem’s Music Academy, performed a concert of works by Verdi, Grieg, Mussorgsky, Schumann and Handel. The concerts were enhanced by actors who adopted the roles of the various composers and who helped introduce the pieces to the audience in an accessible and charming way. Over 3000 people came to the museum over the three days and each concert was fully booked with 400 people at each concert. These events introduced hundreds of families, adults and children alike, to the beauty and inspiration of classical music. The event was publicized in both traditional and new media outlets. Flyers were distributed in hotels and tourist venues and the concerts were advertised in Hebrew and English radio stations, magazines and at the Museum.
The Israel Broadcast Company presented a radio interview in English that talks of the vision of the Sanders Foundation.
Additionally, the event was the focus for a radio interview on impact philanthropy that told about the inspiration given by the Sanders Family for the Museum. It was aired in New York on the program BITE SIZE with Yoni Pollak.
