Mission Statement

The Martin and Susan Sanders Family Foundation (the “Foundation”) was created to enrich artistic and educational experiences for a broad cross section of individuals by providing access to the arts with a focus on classical music with a culturally Jewish slant. The Foundation actively supports and maintains programs involving music instruction, musical showcases and art classes. The Foundation directly funds the cost of instruments, instructors and materials for use by youth participating in art classes and musical instruction, often conducted at Jewish institutions such as schools and museums. The Foundation also sponsors musical performances and showcases by recognized artists, musicians and educators in the arts.

The goals of the Foundation are to expose Jewish youth to classical music performances and to assist them to develop an appreciation for the musical and visual arts. The Foundation’s founders recognize that scheduling, finances, and lack of awareness are challenges that make it less likely that today’s youth will be exposed to classical music and the arts in a meaningful and personal way. The Foundation’s challenge is to confront those obstacles and find ways to expose Jewish youth to music and the arts and assist them in integrating classical music and an appreciation for the arts into their daily regimens.

The Foundation supports special programming as part of curricular and co-curricular youth activities. Programming sponsored by the Foundation featuring some of the brightest young talents on New York’s classical music scenes, is designed to engage Jewish youth and to foster the beginning of a deep, personal, life-long relationship with classical music and an appreciation for the music and visual arts.
